Neeti Head and Neck Cancer Clinic is a dedicated unit within the hospital for diagnosis and treatment of disorders related to benign and malignant tumours of the head and neck region.

At Neeti Clinics, 5000 minor procedures and 600 major procedures are successfully conducted each year.

We have in house facilities for following diagnostic tests:

1. Biopsy: Sampling the ulcer to determine the presence of cancer
2. Rigid Laryngoscopy: Examination of the throat with an endoscope to diagnose ulcer/ growth in the pharynx or larynx.
3. Intraoperative frozen section biopsy : This technique of intraoperative biopsy ensures oncological clear margins of excision

Following is a list of commonly performed surgeries at the hospital:

1. Oral Cancer Surgery: Excision of tumour/cancer of the tongue, cheek, jaw, lip, tonsil with removal of neck nodes (lymphatic glands) and appropriate reconstruction. Reconstruction is done with tissue from the palate, fore-arm, thigh or chest region or bony reconstruction from the leg bone depending upon the disease and the individual patient.
2. Thyroid Surgery: Excision of benign or malignant swellings of thyroid gland. Neeti Clinics is the largest volume centre in the entire region to perform maximum thyroid surgeries in a year for nearly more than a decade.
3. Laryngectomy: Removal of voice box (required for cancer of the throat) with creation of alternate breathing tract and fitting of a specialized voice prsothesis (PROVOX)
4. Parotidectomy: Excision of benign/ malignant lesions from the parotid salivary gland.

Specialty Services:

1. Trismus Surgery: Oral Submucus Fibrosis is a notorious problem in Vidarbha region on account of betelnut and tobacco consumption. This results in reduced mouth opening, sometimes to a severe degree interfering with eating and speech. Trismus surgery is a LASER assisted surgery where mouth opening of patient is improved without any scars/ incision marks on the face.
2. Intra-operative Nerve Monitoring: Neeti Clinics is the proud owner of the only Neuro-Monitor in Vidarbha for head and neck surgeries. Risk to the laryngeal nerve that affects voice is the most dreaded complication of thyroid surgery. Similarly risk to facial nerve that affects facial expressions is the most dreaded complication of parotid and ear surgery. The neuro-monitor aids in reducing the risk of such damage during surgery and makes the surgery much safer.
3. LASER Surgery: We are the first centre in the region to procure the specialized C02 LASER machine. This is used to excise benign and malignant ulcers/ lesions from the oral cavity and throat. LASER allows much more precision in surgery, less bleeding and lesser post-operative pain along with faster healing of the wounds.
4. Harmonic Scalpel Surgery: This is an extremely advanced technology to reduce bleeding while operating in the head and neck region. This is particularly useful for large tumour or cancer excisions.
5. Rehabilitation: Treatment of head and neck cancers requires a multi-disciplinary thorough all round approach. Therefore, we include personalized and specialized attention to all aspects of healing and rehabilitation including dental consultations, physiotherapy, dietary counseling, medical oncology (chemotherapy) consultation and assistance and even psychological counseling to patients and care-givers.
